Hi everyone, April 9th, 2008 Issue 4 I am running behind this week. Personal issues in my life had to be taken care of and I am late publishing this issue. Just goes to show you I am human and not a major company on autopilot, I am flesh and blood; I am at this time the sole person who runs this website. So are you still with me? I thought I would remove all the ads from this weekly update and make it just a plain letter each week. Tell you what I have learned and if you want to search my web-site farther you will...no pushing, or unwanted force. If you want to read my stuff you will and if you want to subscribe you will email me. I am doing this to clean up the look and feel of my site. I am tired of all the hype, fancy words, and WOW's. I think people need a direct down to earth place to get information. No pitches, no sales, just a good read. I can remember simple sales approaches that I saw that the item pretty much sold it’s self. Now with the Internet words are the power of sales. It’s too bad you could not just put a picture in the subject line. Now there’s an idea! How do we do that? I have been learning about email marketing and how to approach this area of marketing without spamming or sending unwanted e-mails. I signed up to an auto responder and tried adding my few e-mail addresses to see what was going to happen. I am getting junk mail I did not want to one of my email addresses and is wasting my time deleting the xxx things. I was a paying customer and felt I should not have to be subjected to the company junk mail if I pay to use their services. There was no opt-out of company junk mail. I canceled my order with them. I am trying to learn how to use MS Outlook Express with a group mailer program. Opt-in only format, with the list that Work-From-Home Data-Entry provides. I am not sure they opted-in for my e-mails either, so I have not used this list yet. What do you think? How should I approach this dilemma? I do have an e-mail address I allow most e-mails to go through so I can use for research and study. FunnyYardSale@yahoo.com is my main email I use for most all my email message needs. This is where my merchandising jobs come through and where most people e-mail me. I started dhand@track-my-journey.com for this web site. I also have 2FunnyYardSale@gmail. com because I do not always get my mail at Yahoo. I had a website called Funny Yard Sale and will again this fall but let it go for now because I was not making any money at it and it was costing me. Then, my partner got breast cancer and we travel a lot to her treatments so I do not even have the yard sales here at the house right now. I also did auction sales but time is limited and I make enough to survive with what little work I do and other income. I am far from rich and behind on bills like most average Americans. I am just happy being in therapy, playing with my pets, spending time with Hazel, and learning this Internet stuff. I took time off school because of Hazel’s chemotherapy treatments and to have time to take her the places she needs to go. Like having her head shaved this afternoon. I hardly have time for myself. I have decided to look at e-mails in a new form recently. The subject line is like the newspaper header that drives people to buy the paper. The e-mail is the articles that are on the front page that make you go to section A, B, or C etc and continue to read, or go to that store, yard sale, or educate yourself on a new subject. I look at each part as a sale pitch and found them funny sometimes. I miss the Budweiser frogs’ ads, which were out. Something’s should not change like Camel cigarette pack covers; the old salt containers with the young girl on the front. People like consistency in sales and marketing so they can remember what to look for. With all the hype of change I think some advertisers are forgetting this factor. When you find a good look, I think you should keep it. If there is no need to change why change. If something is not working fix it then. Like Bic lighters, if they change the shape you will not buy it because it does not look and feel right. For example Pepsi has not tasted the same since they went to plastic bottles. A good cold bottle of beer after mowing the lawn was the best. Not that I can drink anymore. But I miss the bottle of Pepsi after a good long Saturday motorcycle ride. I am a baby-boomer and miss the good old days. Can you sell that? Been reading mostly about how to market on the internet and getting no where per say this week, or maybe I have learned something I am not sure. I do like the less junky look of this posting. Products will sell if they have worth. I do like the Work-From-Home Data-Entry program I bought and I am still learning from their literature. I have been spending most of my time posting to e-zines about this website for now. They have a good article auto submitter. Take the time to read ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ by Dale Carnegie. Add that to your most important books collection. I cannot say enough about this man’s philosophy. I waited way to long before reading this book. The old version is about $6 to $10 bucks in a used book store. Well, if I was pushing anything to sell this week; since I am trying to make money online; I guess it would be this program Work-From-Home Data-Entry program to help you understand marketing and learn how to make money online. It has no monthly fees and it is worth the one time investment. However, that is your decision, and there are other programs and e-books that are good too to read. Next week… I think I will cover the older e-books out there I call used because they have been around awhile. Do not forget public domain books too! See you next week. I have about 1,000 e-books I could list and sell, but do not want to offer anything that would not be useful.
